Directed Self-Placement
 

Dear Student,

Welcome to Marymount! You will make your course registration decisions using the following process called the Directed Self-Placement (DSP). Directed Self-Placement is available in three areas:

  • Reading
  • Writing (English Composition)
  • Mathematics

First year students are required to complete the process in all three areas; transfer students must complete self-placements in those areas indicated by their transfer evaluation.

  • Use only Internet Explorer or Firefox as your web browser
  • It will take about 90 minutes to complete the entire process
  • At any point during the reading or writing DSP process you can stop and log back in – the system will save your decisions
  • The mathematics DSP must be completed in one sitting
  • First year students have available:
    • High school GPA
    • High school class rank
    • SAT or ACT scores
    • Calculator
  • Transfer students have available:
    • Transfer evaluation
    • Calculator
